Music is Fun(3.5 - 5 years)
Your child is about to embark on a fantastic musical journey. Music is Fun is our introductory keyboard/piano course. Through games and activities your child will learn about the keyboard, where each note lives and through songs and finger prep activities your child will learn to play these notes on the keyboard. Elroy, (a beautiful puppet) comes to life in the lesson each week to assist in the learning process. And there’s Elmagog, the frog who lives on the black note lily pads, Mick the Monk and a whole host of other friends to meet along the way to introduce your child in an age appropriate and enjoyable way to music.
Our approach engages the whole body in the learning experience, which makes learning easier and more memorable. And most importantly – It’s going to be lots of FUN! No home keyboard practice is required on a regular basis at this stage. Some children like to play a little bit at home and play along with the CD and that’s great. Others are not interested in practice at all yet and that’s fine too. While able to understand the concepts of where the notes live etc some children may not yet have the fine motor muscle tone required to play keyboard notes. When this muscle tone develops the child will be playing as well as others in class straight away as all the learning is done and they understand what to do. The best thing you can do for your child both developmentally and musically at this stage is to encourage singing and listening to music.
