Bass guitar is an unsung hero in music - bassists get no love, since they usually stand in the back and play a sometimes-repetitive note cycle or progression. But they're highly important and vital to the sound.
Drums and bass round out the sound and build a solid rhythm foundation that will lift the song (and by extension, the guitar, vocals & melody) up to the next level. Bass supports the melody while syncing with drums to form that solid groove.
Of course, the bass requirements can vary with electronic groups and some solo acoustic or folk tunes, but bass and drums are a basic necessity for most genres and styles.
Guitar is popular with all ages but we recommend that children younger than 7 years start on a Forte course first.
