Drums are great fun to play and every rock band or pop bands needs a good drummer; all music has rhythm, so percussion forms the basis of all music. Like guitar, our drum lessons are very popular with pre teens, teens and adults. We teach drums the fun way – playing along with your teacher, to music, and with other students.

Playing the drums is amazing for a number of reasons:

  • It's easy to understand - you've been drumming since birth - Probably before!

  • It feels good to play the drums - it's an ergonomic instrument

  • It's easy to sound a beat - just hit it!

  • If someone can tap a beat, they can be taught to drum

  • Great for hand eye co-ordination

  • Good cross lateral co-ordination is improved.

Did you know kids with dyslexia have been known to show remarkable improvements through learning drums?

Playing drums requires good co-ordination skills and a strong sense of beat. Drums are rhythm instrument that set the pace (or tempo) and keeps the time for all the other instruments to fall in line with. The volume of the drums can damage hearing, and whilst at Forte we teach with electronic drum kit, we do not accept students under 8 years of age.

Our teachers are versatile and play a wide range of styles. Many beginners have a real passion and desire to play a particular piece or style. Our teachers know how important it is to satisfy this interest and try to work this in as soon as possible, sometimes in the first few lessons.

Forte also offers a Band program where budding drummers can meet up with guitarists and vocalists and form their own bands.

Come along to see just how good our teachers are and how much you will enjoy learning to play Music at Forte.

We recommend young beginners to music (3.5 - 7 yr olds) start with our Forte Piano Courses for children where all the basics including pitch training are developed first .
